What can I tell you about my self? One day a South American uncovered my secret beneath the soil high in the Andes Mountains of Peru more than 6,000 years ago. In 1845 and 1846, I was devastated by fungus causing the "Irish Potato Famine" in Ireland. The population of Ireland decreased by nearly two million as a result. In 1995, I was taken into space through the shuttle and was the first food to be grown in space. Then in 1997, I was the world's biggest potato that was grown in Germany. My weight was 3.2 kg. That's the same weight as a small dog. I am about 80% water and 20% solid. I grow in 125 countries worldwide.
